OFF

Nothing much this week.

Got a surprise when my PS told me I can go off today until tmr morning 0700 because I passed SOC.

Updates so far

42 SAR has just turned 'Operationally Ready'. Other than that I think there is no need to reveal further. Dangerous blogging on army stuff .....

As for me, I have been selected for the role of Lance Guard in the National Day Parade 2009. I don't know how should I feel either. Take pride in the fact I am the only one chosen in my company or feel sad for all the weekend burnt? As they say, P R I D E stands for People Rest I Do Extra. Just take a look at the schedule for training .....

That's 11 weekends burnt :(!!

They say I should take pride in it, in wearing No.1. But I have no pride in participating in the NDP ... to me it's just a waste of my time and my life. To me I have more pride in being a civilian and more pride in wearing 'CV'.

They say my parents will be proud to see me on TV. But I say I would rather my parents see me at home on National Day.

They say there will be a lot of pretty girls to see at the NDP. But I say that pretty girls are everywhere.

But nevertheless, I will try to keep a positive attitude in all this, through my 2 years in National Service. And I believe God will lead me to somewhere better through of all of this. But that doesn't change the fact that I hate NS and doesn't change the perception I have of NS wasting my time! :)

Earth Hour 2009

This sounds like a good start to save electricity and money. But I think I have a better proposal.
Do you stay in HDB flats??? Most people in Singapore do. Ever noticed those corridor light outside your apartment. Did you noticed that those lights are switched on ALL THE TIME throughout the night???
Think about it, if HDB spends some money to upgrade these lights so that they are fitted with movement sensors such that the lights will only switch on when movement is detected along HDB apartment corridors, how much electricity and money will be saved???? After all, most people would sleeping from say 11 pm to 6 am before waking up and moving around. During this time from 11 pm to 6 am, will the lights be needed? No! So isn't it better that these lights are kept off?
